Gullah Me, Gullah You Gullah Cultural Series is an exciting new event series celebrating all things Gullah, mostly of music, but also storytelling, history, food, and culture. Held at SoundWaves, in Gullah churches, and Hilton Head Island schools, our new Gullah Cultural Series introduces us to many touching and beautiful stories as well as challenges of native Islander life right here on Hilton Head Island. In support of Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park and The Gullah Museum of Hilton Head Island, this series is sure to entertain and enlighten all! Bonus: Gullah cuisine dinner option available before the show.

Ladies of the Gullah Geechee Culture: Roles & Resilience

Join us as our newest SoundWaves concert event series finishes its inaugural season with a celebration of contemporary Gullah Geechee women featuring native islanders Louise Miller Cohen, Marlena Smalls, Rose Jackson-Knighton, and Chef Sherri Whitmire. Em cee Rose Jackson-Knighton will lead us through a discussion of Gullah history with Louise Miller Cohen and the intersection of Gullah performance and advocacy with Marlena Smalls. Marlena also will double as our performing artist for this one, and she will be backed up by our Gullah Cultural Series house band, The Lavon Stevens Band.

Seating is cabaret-style at tables of 4.
Reserved dinner/concert seats are $69 per person.
Dinner/concert general seating is $59 per person.
Reserved seating for concert-only tickets is $39 per person, and general seating for concert-only tickets is $29 per person.

Doors and bar open at 6 pm with dinner service at 6:30 pm.
The concert portion of the evening begins at 7:30 pm.
