SWING FORE THE SYMPHONY LEAGUE GOLF FUNDRAISER

Swing FORE the Symphony logo

The League of the HHSO Golf Committee is working hard to reach our fundraising goal of $40,000 to assist the Symphony and its many community outreach programs.

The event takes place at the prestigious Wexford Golf Club on Monday, November 15th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. To date, we have 28 teams registered with commitments for 5 more.  So far we have raised $53,000 before expenses.

Excitement builds as we get more hole-in-one and hole sponsors, lunch sponsors, and auction item donations. We are very thankful for our Title Sponsor, Engel & Volkers and our Patron Sponsor, Beach Properties of Hilton Head, Inc. We are also thankful for Club Car and BMW for being our hole-in-one sponsors.

We have two celebrity golfers who have agreed to participate.  Jan Stephenson is an Australian professional golfer with 41 worldwide victories and will be on site the day of the event.  Rosie Jones is an American golfer with 13 LPGA tour career victories.  For our silent auction, golfers will have the opportunity to bid on playing in a foursome with Rosie at the Chechessee Creek Golf Course. Chechessee Creek Club is a private golf club located between Beaufort and Hilton Head which opened in 2000. We are grateful to Bob Cherichella and Nancy Millette for recruiting these two golf celebrities.  We will have approximately 40 other silent auction items, including gift certificates to play at these local golf courses: Wexford, Colleton River, Belfair, Berkeley Hall, Sea Pines Country Club, Country Club of Hilton Head, and Heritage Courses.

November 15th promises to be an exciting day for playing golf with old friends, making new friends, and enjoying libations at the beautiful Wexford Golf Club.  If you can’t play, please consider a donation, hole sponsorship, or joining us for the after-play reception. Contact Chairperson Linda Moloney at [email protected] for more information.

Our committee has put in hundreds of hours to make this event a success.  Many volunteers will be assisting us on the day of the golf tournament.  Please contact Terry Hicks at [email protected] if you are interested in volunteering.

We need your support to make this the most successful fundraiser the League of the Symphony has ever had!

—Linda Moloney

SPRING FASHION SHOW AND LUNCHEON

Save the date!

The 10th Anniversary Spring Fashion Show and Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, March 22nd at the Country Club of Hilton Head.  We are so looking forward to resuming this event after a two-year hiatus. HHIPC

The HHIPC Committee offered the Bravo Piano! Festival in June to a live audience for the first time in 15 months. How wonderful it was to be together again listening to live music! We are looking forward to continued success as we begin to plan for the 2022 International Piano Competition! We look forward to seeing all our piano enthusiasts and lovers of music at our competition as well as all musical events leading up to March!

The IPC Committee is meeting monthly to prepare for the 2022 International Piano Competition. The competition will be held from March 7th-14th. Currently, applications are being submitted for review by our Competition Selection Jury. This year the competition features our senior piano artists, 18-30 years of age. The applicant pool is geographically diverse and the number of applicants submitted is similar to previous years. We are confident the quality of musicianship and performances will be too good to miss!

We are very excited to begin our season! We have the following three special recitals planned:

• Henry Kramer, scheduled on Saturday, October 9th at SoundWaves at 7:30 p.m.
• Chang Yong Shin on Monday, November 1st
• Chaeyoung Park on Saturday, April 30th

Musical Feast is also being planned, as we prepare to celebrate not only the 25th competition presented by the HHIPC, but also, the 40th anniversary of the HHSO and the 10th anniversary of John Morris Russell’s tenure as Music Director of the HHSO. This celebration will occur on February 5th, 2022. Elliot Wuu (2015 HHIPC First Prize Winner) will be our guest artist.

The IPC Committee is in need of volunteers not only for the competition, but for all the events leading up to it. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Bill Zurilla at [email protected] or Kathy Zurilla at [email protected].

We hope to see you soon!

—Kathy Zurilla
