About the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra

The Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra welcomes accomplished professional musicians interested in joining the HHSO. Based on Hilton Head Island and serving audiences throughout the South Carolina Lowcountry, HHSO is a per-service orchestra committed to artistic excellence and creating meaningful musical experiences for our community.

How to Audition

Available positions will be listed on this page along with important dates and requirements for each audition. Candidates should carefully review all information associated with the position before applying. Each listing may include:

  • Application or résumé deadline
  • Live audition date or dates
  • Audition repertoire
  • Preliminary recording requirements, when applicable
  • Additional instructions specific to the position
Candidates interested in an open position should submit the requested application materials by the deadline listed for that audition. Application requirements may vary by position, so please follow the instructions included with the individual audition announcement.
A digital audio recording may be required as part of the audition process for certain positions. If a recording is required, candidates will receive instructions regarding repertoire, recording specifications and submission deadlines. Please do not submit recordings unless requested as part of the application process.
Selected candidates will be invited to participate in a live audition. Audition dates and repertoire will be provided with each position announcement. Candidates are responsible for reviewing the complete repertoire requirements and preparing all requested selections. Additional details regarding audition location, scheduling and arrival procedures will be provided to invited candidates.

When available, repertoire lists and other audition materials will be provided with the individual position listing. Candidates should prepare the repertoire indicated for their specific audition and should refer to the posted materials for any additional instructions.
