Levi Woodall-Posada
Levi started violin at the age of four in Puerto Rico, where he studied for seven years with Susan Ashby, the founder of the Suzuki Association of Puerto Rico. At age 11, Levi moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where he studied with Yoram Youngerman, the Artistic Director of the Mallarme Youth Chamber Orchestra (MYCO). With MYCO, Levi participated in numerous intensive chamber music workshops and master classes, including master classes with the Tokyo String Quartet and the Perlman/Quint/Bailey Trio. Levi has also competed in various competitions, including the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, the Peter Perret Youth Talent Search, and the NC-ASTA Competition, in which he received an honorable mention award. In 2014, Levi was a finalist for the Hilton Head Concerto Competition, and he was recently named a finalist for the Hilton Head Concerto Competition for 2015. In the summer of 2014, Levi received a scholarship to attend the four week Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival in Vermont, where he had the opportunity to play for Lawrence Dutton of the Emerson String Quartet.
In 2013, Levi was accepted at the University of North Carolina, School of the Arts High School, where he now continues his violin studies with Professor Kevin Lawrence. After high school Levi hopes to join a conservatory and continue his studies in violin as a soloist, as a chamber musician, and as an orchestra member. Levi also is passionate about conducting and music composition. He hopes to have a career in violin performance and someday tour internationally with a chamber group. Eventually, he would like to teach at a conservatory and share his knowledge, understanding, and experience with emerging musicians.
